The Age of Experience Network provides the tools and training to help individuals create their OWN employment opportunities ... whether that's consulting, full-time or part-time or contract opportunities. And in doing so, to create a whole new sense of freedom, along with the enjoyment and challenge of using the knowhow and skills gained over their years in the workforce.
The Network was founded by Chris Newton. Apart from the fact that Chris is proudly and very much in the 'age of experience' himself, over the last three decades, he has actively helped thousands of small business owners and managers - to realise their full potential.
To help you understand the vision of the Age of Experience Network, let’s hand over the reins to Chris, so he can tell you his story ...
Quite some years ago, I was having a real challenge finding the RIGHT people for consulting positions within my company. Not surprisingly of course, there was any number of young double-degree graduates applying.
But frankly, despite the intensive training we gave them in our specialised field of marketing and business coaching, they lacked the life experience and credibility with our business clients. Not to mention, good old fashioned work ethic. Of course we did find some real 'gems' amongst those young people. But they were the exception, not the rule. After some frustrating attempts to get ‘good people with maturity’, we changed our approach.
Our new employment ad carried this headline:

Do you have the ‘grey hair’ experience to help other businesses?
In the ad, we explained that we could train motivated people as mentors and coaches in our field of expertise, but the one thing we wanted MOST was LIFE EXPERIENCE. An even keel. An inate understanding of human nature. An ability to deal with people at all levels. We stressed that we really valued the ‘old school’ work ethic and integrity.
Now, this is not to criticise young people. Far from it. We had some exceptional young mature people on our team. But frankly, what absolutely thrilled and overwhelmed us was the response to our 'grey hair' ad. We 'accidentally' uncovered a huge and until then undiscovered talent and burning desire amongst the mature age population. They WANTED the opportunity to WORK. And they were happy to learn new skills.
We were literally inundated with applications from mature age men and women. 45, 55, 65 and beyond in some cases. And the calibre of the applicants just blew us away. Some had owned their own businesses. Some had been senior managers. Some had been technical or trades people. Some had set up successful branch offices interstate and overseas.
Best of all, our clients loved dealing with our mature advisors. What’s more, the quality of the services we were delivering improved immeasurably. Productivity improved too.
In a very short time, we had a new sense of stability and confidence in our ability to 'deliver'. And our ‘grey hair consultants’ were having the time of their lives using their extensive skills, and happily earning a healthy income.
Our most successful ‘grey hair’ never did tell me his age, but I suspect he was in his 70’s. He relished every minute of being part of our company. And became a real mentor to the younger team members.
THAT experience has been imprinted indelibly in my mind ever since. And I have wanted to find a way once again, to tap into this wonderful resource of experience and wisdom. Hence the Age of Experience Network.
To my mind, it doesn’t matter if you are a former business professional, technician, administrator, manager, or tradesperson. Your LIFE EXPERIENCE, correctly applied back into your field of expertise, and presented with the tools available through the Age of Experience Network, could well be YOUR ‘pass key’ to a far more exciting career path and a rewarding income stream.
Let us be very clear about what being a member of our Network ISN’T.
We will not promise to find our graduates consulting contracts. Certainly, we are building an exciting referral network ... indeed, a network of networks ... that will unquestionably be run hot with cross referring of consulting opportunities.
But the prime purpose is to EMPOWER you to take control of your own income potential.
So it just makes sense to learn how to define, package, present, and promote the new, professional YOU.
And THAT ... is what the Age of Experience Network and the Age of Experience Business Academy 5-part course is all about.
In your working life, have you ever suggested initiatives that saved your employer money through better or more streamlined systems?
Are you great at identifying wastage and achieving cost reductions that might save a company thousands in overheads?
Have you been something of a ‘Red Adair’ when it comes to solving problems, ‘putting out fires’ for employers in your years of employment?
Have you successfully set up businesses, or built a branch office up from scratch?
Have you seen sales opportunities lost through ineffective handling of orders, or weaknesses in customer service, or in sales skills, that you KNOW you could fix if you had the chance?
Are you great at written communication?
Maybe you re-wrote many of the company’s brochures, proposals and literature? (Or wished you could have!)
Maybe you had a talent for sales training or motivating people?
Chances are YOU HAVE KNOWLEDGE that could add value to companies and organisations all over the country.
Almost EVERY company and organisation has weaknesses in their systems, their management processes, cost controls, or training programs. Typically though, they’re too busy or they lack the resources and experienced people to address them.
In many cases, they don’t even KNOW they have these problems. And that is even more exciting!
You see, as the person who can SHOW them what they’re missing, and who can demonstrate a solution, your knowhow is worth pure gold. Does that make sense?
The critical thing is knowing how to identify and quantify problems organisations are experiencing, and articulate how to fix them, demonstrating your ‘added value’ in bottom line results. When you can do this, you enter the ‘Age of Experience’!
Bottom line? Organisations will PAY YOU to solve problems like that.
